Founder and Owner of Singing Hawk Retreat
I grew up on this property from the day I was born. It was wild - covered with brush, downed trees and wild critters everywhere. I loved playing on it as a child - I would catch salamanders and try to build them little houses, eat dinner to the symphony of crickets in late summer and fall asleep to our native songdogs (coyotes) howling me to sleep. Because I love this property so much and find such peace and solace in it, I wanted to share it with others. It's been a tremendous amount of work to get it cleared of brush and to design the trails, stone steps, yards, lookout and wildlife watching areas and keep the deer from eating all the plants! Building the house and driveway to the property felt like i was getting my PhD in home building! I have learned so much (and lifted and carried so many tons of stone!) but what a transformation! It is still wild in its own way but tamed a bit now.
